Ingredients
All-purpose flour
Warm milk
Sugar
Active dry yeast
Butter, softened
Egg
Salt
Brown sugar
Ground cinnamon
Butter, softened (for filling)
Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting or glaze)
Instructions
In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Add flour, softened butter, egg, and salt, then mix and knead into a smooth, soft dough.
Cover and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each into a circle.
Place one layer on a baking sheet, spread with softened butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Repeat with remaining layers, leaving the top layer plain.
Place a small glass in the center and cut the dough into 16 equal strips from the edge toward the center.
Take two adjacent strips and twist them away from each other, then pinch the ends together. Repeat all around to form a star shape.
Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
Allow to cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze if desired.
Serve warm.
Notes
Ensure the dough is evenly rolled for a uniform shape.
Add chocolate spread or jam for variation.
Sprinkle chopped nuts between layers for added texture.
Store at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 4 days.
Reheat gently before serving to maintain softness.
