Nacho Fries are a bold and cheesy twist on classic French fries, loaded with nacho-style toppings like melty cheese, spicy seasoning, jalapeños, and sour cream. Perfect for parties, game day, or indulgent snacking.

Ingredients

  • 4 Russet potatoes or 1 bag frozen French fries
  • Vegetable oil (for frying or baking)
  • 1 tsp taco seasoning or chili powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese or nacho cheese sauce
  • 1/4 cup sliced pickled jalapeños
  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Optional: guacamole, cooked ground beef or taco meat, black beans, chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. Prepare the fries: Wash, peel (optional), and cut potatoes into fries. Soak in cold water for 30 minutes, then drain and pat dry. Fry twice (300°F for 4–5 mins, then 375°F for 2–3 mins) or bake at 425°F for 25–30 mins. If using frozen fries, bake or air fry until crispy.
  2. Season the fries: While hot, toss fries with taco seasoning or chili powder and salt to taste.
  3. Add cheese: Spread seasoned fries on a baking sheet or serving platter. Sprinkle with shredded cheese or drizzle with warm nacho cheese sauce.
  4. Melt cheese: Broil for 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted (skip this step if using nacho cheese sauce).
  5. Top and serve: Add jalapeños, diced tomatoes, sour cream, green onions, and any additional toppings. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use nacho cheese sauce for smoother, evenly coated fries, or shredded cheddar for a melty texture.
  • Customize with your favorite nacho toppings like black olives, beans, or seasoned meat.
  • For spicy fries, add hot sauce or extra jalapeños.
  • Serve immediately to maintain crispiness.
  • Use air fryer fries for a lighter version.
