Chocolate Truffles are rich, decadent bite-sized treats made from a smooth chocolate ganache center and coated in a variety of delicious toppings. These elegant confections are easy to make and perfect for gifting, entertaining, or satisfying a chocolate craving.

Ingredients

  • Semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • Heavy cream
  • Unsalted butter
  • Vanilla extract
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Powdered sugar
  • Finely chopped nuts
  • Chocolate sprinkles
  • Shredded coconut
  • Melted chocolate

Instructions

  1. Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  2. Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it begins to simmer around the edges. Do not boil.
  3. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Add the butter and vanilla extract and stir until the mixture becomes smooth and glossy.
  5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours, or until firm enough to scoop.
  6. Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, portion the mixture into small balls.
  7. Roll each portion quickly between your hands to create smooth truffles.
  8. Coat the truffles in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, chopped nuts, coconut, sprinkles, or melted chocolate as desired.
  9. Place the finished truffles on a parchment-lined tray.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Add espresso powder to enhance the chocolate flavor.
  • Use dark chocolate for a richer, less sweet truffle.
  • Peppermint or orange extract can be added for flavor variations.
  • Work quickly when rolling to prevent the ganache from softening too much.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Freeze for up to 3 months and thaw overnight before serving.
