Ingredients
1 large frozen banana
1 cup milk or unsweetened plant-based milk
1/2 cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
1 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1–2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup, optional
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
1/2 cup ice, optional
1 scoop chocolate or vanilla protein powder, optional
Instructions
Add the milk to a blender first to help the ingredients blend smoothly.
Add the Greek yogurt, peanut butter, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt. Add the optional protein powder if using.
Add the frozen banana and optional ice for a thicker, frostier smoothie.
Blend on high until completely smooth and creamy.
If the smoothie is too thick, add a splash of milk and blend again. If it is too thin, add more frozen banana or ice.
Taste and add honey or maple syrup if additional sweetness is desired. Blend briefly to combine.
Pour into a glass and serve immediately.
Notes
For a higher-protein smoothie, add 1 scoop of chocolate or vanilla protein powder and additional milk as needed.
For extra peanut butter flavor, increase the peanut butter to 3 tablespoons.
For a dairy-free version, use plant-based milk and dairy-free yogurt.
Add 1/4 cup rolled oats for a thicker breakfast smoothie.
For a mocha variation, add a small amount of chilled espresso or cold coffee and slightly reduce the milk.
For a banana-free version, substitute frozen avocado or extra Greek yogurt and ice, adding sweetener to taste.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Shake or stir thoroughly before drinking.
Leftover smoothie can be frozen in an ice cube tray and later blended with a splash of milk.
