Chickpea Pizza Crust is a high-protein, gluten-free alternative to traditional pizza dough. It’s made with chickpea flour and pantry spices, creating a crisp-edged, soft-centered crust perfect for all your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup chickpea flour (garbanzo bean flour)
  2. 3/4 cup water
  3. 1 tbsp olive oil
  4. 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  5. 1/2 tsp onion powder
  6. 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  7. 1/4 tsp salt
  8. 1/2 tsp baking powder (optional, for fluffiness)
  9. Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and place a 10–12 inch oven-safe skillet, pizza stone, or baking sheet inside to heat.

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together chickpea flour, water, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, baking powder (if using), and red pepper flakes until smooth.
  2. Let the batter rest for 10–15 minutes to hydrate the flour.
  3. Carefully remove the preheated pan from the oven and lightly grease it.
  4. Pour the batter into the pan and spread it evenly into a thin layer.
  5. Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden on the edges and set in the middle.
  6. Remove from the oven, add desired toppings, and return to the oven for 10–12 more minutes until heated through and cheese is melted.
  7. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a thinner crust, increase water slightly for a socca-style flatbread.
  • Letting the batter rest helps with consistency but can be skipped in a pinch.
  • Use a pizza stone or cast iron for the best crispy texture.
