Chicken With Panko Breading is a crispy, golden chicken dish with a light, crunchy coating and juicy interior. It’s an easy, versatile recipe that’s perfect for weeknight dinners, family meals, or casual entertaining.

Ingredients

  • Boneless, skinless chicken breasts or chicken cutlets
  • Panko breadcrumbs
  • All-purpose flour
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Paprika
  • Italian seasoning
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Olive oil or cooking spray
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and lightly grease or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pound the chicken to an even thickness if needed.
  3. Place the flour in one shallow bowl, whisk the eggs and milk together in a second bowl, and combine the panko, Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper in a third bowl.
  4. Coat each piece of chicken in the flour, shaking off the excess.
  5. Dip the chicken into the egg mixture.
  6. Press the chicken into the panko mixture until evenly coated on both sides.
  7. Arrange the chicken on the prepared baking sheet and lightly spray or drizzle with olive oil.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • For an air fryer, cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10–14 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Pan-fry in a shallow layer of oil over medium heat for a crisp golden crust.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Reheat in the oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, salad, or your favorite dipping sauce.
