Juicy marinated chicken skewers inspired by Greek gyros, grilled to perfection with bold Mediterranean flavors. These easy skewers are perfect served with pita, fresh vegetables, and creamy sauces.

Ingredients

  • Chicken breast or thighs, cut into chunks
  • Plain yogurt
  • Olive oil
  • Lemon juice
  • Garlic, minced
  • Dried oregano
  • Paprika
  • Cumin
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper to form a marinade.
  2. Add chicken pieces and coat thoroughly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or longer.
  3. Thread marinated chicken onto skewers, leaving space between pieces.
  4. Preheat grill or oven to 200°C (400°F).
  5. Grill skewers for 10–15 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through and lightly charred, or bake in the oven turning halfway.
  6. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes.
  7. Serve with pita, vegetables, and sauces like tzatziki.
