  • 1 can cream of cheddar soup or cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped dill pickles, optional
  • Chopped green onions, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned, breaking it into crumbles.
  3. Add the diced onion and cook for 4–5 minutes until softened. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Drain excess grease.
  4. Stir in the cream of cheddar soup, sour cream, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  5. Mix in half of the shredded cheddar cheese and half of the mozzarella cheese.
  6. Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Arrange the frozen French fries in a single layer over the beef mixture.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar and mozzarella cheeses over the fries.
  10. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes until the fries are crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Let the casserole rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
  12. Garnish with chopped dill pickles and green onions if desired.

Notes

  • Add cooked bacon for a bacon cheeseburger variation.
  • Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Add jalapeños or pepper jack cheese for extra spice.
  • Freeze the cooked beef filling separately for up to 3 months and add fresh frozen fries before baking.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven or air fryer to help keep the fries crisp.
