Caprese Skewers are a fresh, vibrant appetizer that captures the classic Caprese salad in a bite-sized form. Made with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella balls, and fresh basil, these skewers are drizzled with balsamic glaze for a tangy, savory finish. They’re perfect for picnics, parties, or a light snack.

Ingredients

  1. 1 pint cherry tomatoes or grape tomatoes
8 oz fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)
    Fresh basil leaves
    Balsamic glaze (for drizzling)
    Olive oil (optional, for drizzling)
    Salt and pepper to taste
Wooden or metal skewers (or toothpicks for smaller skewers)

Instructions

Prepare the Skewers: Thread a cherry tomato, a fresh basil leaf, and a mozzarella ball onto each skewer. Repeat the process until the skewer is filled, or alternate with more tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella, depending on the size of your skewers.

  1. Arrange the Skewers: Place the skewers on a serving platter in a neat row or circular pattern for a visually appealing presentation.
  2. Drizzle with Balsamic Glaze: Once the skewers are arranged, drizzle them lightly with balsamic glaze. You can also drizzle a little olive oil for added richness, if desired.
  3. Season: Sprinkle the skewers with salt and pepper to taste. For a little extra flavor, you can even add a pinch of dried oregano or basil.
  4. Serve: Serve immediately as an appetizer, or refrigerate until ready to serve. These skewers are perfect for summer gatherings, picnics, or as a light starter before a main meal.

Notes

  • If making ahead of time, add the balsamic glaze and seasoning just before serving to avoid soggy skewers.
  • For a variation, add a small piece of toasted baguette or roasted pepper to the skewer for a little extra crunch and flavor.
