Caprese Pasta Bake is a comforting baked pasta dish inspired by the classic Caprese combination of juicy tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and fragrant basil. Tender pasta, bubbling cheese, and sweet roasted tomatoes make it perfect for weeknight dinners, potlucks, or family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Pasta such as penne, rigatoni, or ziti
  • Cherry or grape tomatoes, halved
  • Fresh mozzarella, cubed or torn
  • Marinara sauce
  • Garlic, minced
  • Olive oil
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Italian seasoning
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Cook the pasta until just al dente, then drain well.
  3. Combine the cooked pasta with the marinara sauce, garlic, olive oil, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Fold in half of the fresh mozzarella and half of the halved tomatoes.
  5. Transfer the pasta mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  6. Top with the remaining mozzarella, remaining tomatoes, and grated Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
  8. Let the pasta rest for a few minutes.
  9. Top with fresh basil leaves and serve warm with extra Parmesan if desired.
