These Campfire Donuts are crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, and coated in sweet cinnamon sugar. Perfect for camping trips and backyard bonfires, they’re an easy outdoor treat everyone will enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar glaze, chocolate sauce, caramel drizzle, sprinkles, crushed nuts

Instructions

  1. Build a campfire and allow it to burn down until you have hot coals and steady heat.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Open the biscuit dough and use your fingers or a small cutter to create a hole in the center of each biscuit.
  4. Carefully place the donuts on a lightly greased cast iron skillet, campfire grate, or roasting stick setup.
  5. Cook the donuts over medium campfire heat, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through on both sides.
  6. Remove the donuts from the heat and brush lightly with melted butter.
  7. Roll each donut in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  8. Add optional toppings if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • Cook over hot coals instead of direct flames to prevent burning.
  • Refrigerated biscuit dough is the easiest option, but homemade dough also works well.
  • A cast iron skillet provides the most even cooking over a campfire.
  • Add pumpkin spice seasoning for a seasonal flavor twist.
  • These donuts are best served fresh and warm.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 1 day.
  • Top with chocolate sauce, caramel drizzle, or sprinkles for extra sweetness.
