Ingredients

  • Ripe bananas, sliced
  • Butter
  • Brown sugar
  • All-purpose flour
  • Sugar
  • Butter, softened
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Vanilla extract
  • Baking powder
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. In a pan, melt butter and brown sugar until bubbling.
  3. Add sliced bananas and cook until caramelized and coated, then remove from heat.
  4. Arrange the caramelised bananas evenly in the bottom of the cake pan.
  5. In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  6. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in milk and vanilla extract.
  7. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  8. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until smooth.
  9. Pour the batter over the bananas and spread evenly.
  10. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  11. Let cool slightly, then invert onto a serving plate so the bananas are on top.
  12. Serve warm or at room temperature.
