Burger Packets are an easy all-in-one meal featuring juicy seasoned burger patties, tender potatoes, and vegetables cooked together in foil. Perfect for the oven, grill, or campfire, they’re a flavorful, low-cleanup dinner the whole family will enjoy.

Ingredients

  • Ground beef
  • Baby potatoes or Yukon Gold potatoes, sliced
  • Carrots, sliced
  • Yellow onion, sliced
  • Bell peppers, sliced (optional)
  • Olive oil
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Paprika
  • Italian seasoning
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Aluminum foil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) or preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and gently form into burger patties.
  3. Season the patties and vegetables with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Toss the potatoes, carrots, onions, and bell peppers with olive oil.
  5. Tear off four large sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil.
  6. Divide the vegetables evenly among the foil sheets and place a burger patty on top of each pile.
  7. Fold and seal each foil packet tightly, leaving a little room for steam to circulate.
  8. Place the packets on a baking sheet or directly on the grill.
  9. Cook for 35–45 minutes, until the potatoes are tender and the burgers reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  10. Carefully open the packets to avoid escaping steam.
  11. Top with shredded cheddar cheese during the last 5 minutes of cooking if desired.
  12. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Slice the potatoes thinly to ensure even cooking.
  • Customize the packets with mushrooms, zucchini, corn, or green beans.
  • Ground turkey or chicken can be substituted; cook poultry to 165°F (74°C).
  • Prepare the packets several hours ahead and refrigerate until ready to cook.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Freeze cooked packets for up to 3 months and thaw overnight before reheating.
