Brown Sugar Milk Boba is a creamy and indulgent bubble tea drink made with chewy tapioca pearls coated in rich brown sugar syrup and served with cold milk. This café-style favorite is refreshing, caramel-like, and wonderfully satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup black tapioca pearls
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Extra brown sugar drizzle (optional)
  • Cinnamon dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the tapioca pearls according to the package instructions.
  2. Drain the cooked pearls and set aside.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, water, and honey.
  4. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly.
  5. Add the cooked tapioca pearls to the syrup and stir until fully coated.
  6. Let the pearls simmer for 2 to 3 minutes to absorb the flavor.
  7. Spoon the brown sugar boba into serving glasses.
  8. Swirl extra syrup around the inside of the glasses to create streaks.
  9. Add ice cubes and pour the cold milk over the top.
  10. Add optional toppings if desired.
  11. Serve immediately with a wide straw.

Notes

  • Use oat milk or almond milk for a dairy-free version.
  • Add espresso for a coffee-inspired variation.
  • Freshly cooked boba pearls provide the best chewy texture.
  • Store leftover brown sugar syrup in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • Warm milk can be used for a cozy hot version of the drink.
