Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk (optional)
  • 12 tablespoons sugar or honey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, combine the rice and water and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently.
  4. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and cook until the rice breaks down and the mixture becomes thick and creamy, about 25–30 minutes.
