Berry smoothie is a thick, creamy, and refreshing drink made with mixed berries, ripe banana, Greek yogurt, and milk. Frozen berries provide vibrant sweet-tart flavor while keeping the smoothie naturally cold and frosty.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen mixed berries
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1–2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup, optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds, optional
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes, optional
  • Fresh berries for serving, optional

Instructions

  1. Place the frozen mixed berries and banana in a blender.
  2. Add the Greek yogurt, milk, and optional honey or maple syrup.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and chia seeds if desired.
  4. Blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
  5. If the smoothie is too thick, gradually add a little more milk and blend until it reaches the desired consistency.
  6. If using fresh instead of frozen berries, add the ice and blend again until the smoothie is cold and frothy.
  7. Taste and adjust the sweetness if necessary.
  8. Pour into glasses, garnish with fresh berries if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • A very ripe banana may provide enough natural sweetness to omit the honey or maple syrup.
  • Fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries can replace frozen berries. Add ice to keep the smoothie cold and thick.
  • For a high-protein berry smoothie, add one scoop of vanilla or unflavored protein powder and additional milk as needed.
  • For a berry banana oat smoothie, add about 1/4 cup rolled oats before blending.
  • For a berry spinach smoothie, blend in a handful of fresh baby spinach.
  • For a dairy-free version, use plant-based yogurt and oat, almond, coconut, or soy milk. Use maple syrup for a fully vegan variation.
  • For a thicker berry chia smoothie, add 1–2 tablespoons chia seeds and let the finished smoothie stand for several minutes.
  • To make the smoothie thicker, use frozen banana, reduce the milk, or add extra Greek yogurt, chia seeds, oats, or nut butter.
  • Banana can be omitted and replaced with additional berries. Extra Greek yogurt, avocado, or nut butter can provide additional creaminess.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours and shake or stir thoroughly before serving.
  • Freeze leftover smoothie in ice cube trays and blend the frozen cubes later with a little milk or yogurt.
