Beef Tostadas are a quick and satisfying Mexican-inspired meal featuring crispy tostada shells layered with seasoned ground beef, refried beans, fresh vegetables, cheese, and creamy toppings. Perfect for weeknight dinners, family meals, or casual entertaining.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 8 tostada shells
  • 1 cup refried beans, warmed
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican cheese blend
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks.
  5. Drain any excess grease if necessary.
  6. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  7. Add the tomato sauce and simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  8. Warm the refried beans.
  9. Spread a layer of refried beans on each tostada shell.
  10. Top with the seasoned beef mixture.
  11. Add lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, olives, and cilantro.
  12. Serve immediately with lime wedges.

  • Assemble just before serving to keep the tostadas crispy.
