This Banana Ice Cream is a naturally sweet and creamy frozen dessert made with ripe bananas and just a few simple ingredients. It’s an easy, wholesome treat that can be customized with your favorite mix-ins for endless flavor combinations.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced and frozen
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 to 4 tbsp milk of choice (optional, for blending)
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • Optional mix-ins: 2 tbsp peanut butter, 2 tbsp cocoa powder, 1/4 cup chocolate chips, 1/2 cup chopped strawberries, 1/2 cup blueberries, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, 2 tbsp shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice the ripe bananas, then freeze them for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Place the frozen banana slices into a food processor or high-powered blender.
  3. Add the vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, and a small splash of milk if needed to help the mixture blend smoothly.
  4. Blend until the bananas become thick, smooth, and creamy like soft-serve ice cream.
  5. Stir in any optional mix-ins such as peanut butter, cocoa powder, chocolate chips, berries, nuts, or coconut.
  6. Serve immediately for a soft-serve consistency.
  7. For a firmer texture, transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 1 to 2 hours before scooping.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the sweetest flavor.
  • Plant-based milk keeps the recipe completely dairy-free.
  • Add cocoa powder for a chocolate version or peanut butter for a richer flavor.
  • Mix in berries, chopped nuts, cinnamon, or shredded coconut for variety.
  • Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.
  • Let the ice cream sit at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes before scooping if frozen solid.
