Ingredients
Strong brewed coffee or cold brew, chilled
Ice cubes
Ripe banana
Brown sugar
Milk
Heavy cream
Vanilla extract
Pinch of cinnamon, optional
Pinch of salt
Instructions
Brew strong coffee and allow it to chill completely, or use prepared cold brew.
Mash or blend a small amount of ripe banana until completely smooth.
Combine the banana with the brown sugar, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and a tiny pinch of salt.
Blend or froth the mixture until smooth, airy, and thick enough to float over the coffee, making sure no large pieces of banana remain.
Fill a tall glass generously with ice cubes.
Pour the chilled coffee or cold brew over the ice, leaving enough room for the cold foam.
Slowly spoon or pour the banana and brown sugar cold foam over the coffee.
Finish with an optional sprinkle of cinnamon or a little extra brown sugar.
Serve immediately, gradually stirring the cold foam into the coffee while drinking.
Notes
Use a very ripe banana for stronger banana flavor, natural sweetness, and a smoother cold foam.
Keep the milk and cream well chilled to help produce a thicker, foamier topping.
A blender, immersion blender, milk frother, or tightly sealed jar can be used to make the cold foam.
For an especially smooth foam, blend the banana thoroughly or press it through a fine sieve before combining it with the other ingredients.
For stronger coffee flavor, use two chilled espresso shots with a splash of cold water or milk.
For a dairy-free variation, use creamy oat milk and plant-based whipping cream or another plant-based milk suitable for frothing.
Add caramel sauce for a banana-caramel variation or chocolate syrup for a chocolate-banana iced coffee.
Cinnamon or a small pinch of nutmeg can be added for warmer flavor.
Banana cold foam is best prepared immediately before serving. Refrigerate leftovers in a covered container for no more than 24 hours and re-froth before using.
Chilled brewed coffee can be prepared ahead and kept covered in the refrigerator for a few days.
