Balsamic Glaze is a rich and syrupy sauce made by reducing balsamic vinegar until thick, glossy, and naturally sweet. This versatile glaze adds bold tangy flavor to salads, meats, vegetables, pizzas, fruits, and desserts.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
  • Optional: garlic
  • Optional: fresh rosemary
  • Optional: black pepper
  • Optional: chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Pour the balsamic vinegar into a small saucepan.
  2. Add the honey or brown sugar and stir to combine.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Continue simmering until the glaze thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  7. Remove from the heat and allow the glaze to cool slightly.
  8. The glaze will continue to thicken as it cools.
  9. Transfer to a jar or serving container.
  10. Drizzle over your favorite dishes before serving.

Notes

  • Use maple syrup instead of honey for a different sweetness profile.
  • Add garlic, rosemary, or thyme for extra savory flavor.
  • Chili flakes create a sweet and spicy glaze variation.
  • If the glaze becomes too thick, stir in a small splash of water to loosen it.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month and reheat gently if needed.
