Baked Caprese Chicken is a flavorful Italian-inspired dish featuring juicy chicken breasts topped with fresh mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, and basil. Finished with a drizzle of balsamic glaze, it’s an easy and elegant meal perfect for weeknight dinners or entertaining.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, sliced
  • 12 fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp balsamic glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil.
  3. Season the chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and minced garlic.
  4. Arrange the chicken in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes.
  6. Remove the dish from the oven and top each chicken breast with slices of fresh mozzarella and tomato.
  7. Return to the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes more, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  8. Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes.
  9. Top with fresh basil leaves.
  10. Drizzle with balsamic glaze just before serving.
  11. Serve warm with your favorite side dishes.
