This Baby Bella Mushrooms Recipe features tender cremini mushrooms sautéed with butter, garlic, and fresh herbs for a rich and savory side dish. Quick to prepare and full of earthy flavor, these mushrooms pair beautifully with a variety of meals.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces baby bella mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Clean the mushrooms with a damp paper towel and slice them evenly.
  2. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Once the butter is melted, add the mushrooms in a single layer.
  4. Cook without stirring for 2–3 minutes to encourage browning.
  5. Stir the mushrooms and continue cooking for another 5–7 minutes until tender and golden brown.
  6. Add the minced garlic and thyme.
  7. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  8. Season with salt and black pepper.
  9. Stir in the parsley and lemon juice if using.
  10. Remove from the heat and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Avoid soaking mushrooms in water, as they absorb moisture and can become soggy.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan to achieve the best browning and caramelization.
  • Add onions for extra sweetness and depth of flavor.
  • For a vegan version, replace the butter with additional olive oil or plant-based butter.
  • A splash of white wine or balsamic vinegar adds extra richness.
  • Serve alongside steak, chicken, pasta, risotto, burgers, or roasted vegetables.
