Apple Nachos with Caramel combine crisp apple slices with a sweet caramel drizzle, chocolate chips, and crunchy toppings for a quick snack or dessert. This customizable no-cook treat is ready in about 10 minutes.

Ingredients

  • Fresh apples
  • Caramel sauce
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Peanut butter, optional
  • Shredded coconut, optional
  • Granola, optional
  • Cinnamon, optional
  • Lemon juice, optional

Instructions

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry the apples, then slice them into thin wedges, removing the cores and seeds.
  2. If the apple nachos will not be served immediately, lightly toss the slices with a small amount of lemon juice to help slow browning.
  3. Arrange the apple slices on a large serving plate, slightly overlapping them to create plenty of surface area for the toppings.
  4. Drizzle the caramel sauce evenly over the apples. If the caramel is very thick, warm it slightly until it is easy to drizzle.
  5. If using peanut butter, drizzle a small amount over the apples along with the caramel.
  6. Scatter the mini chocolate chips and chopped pecans or walnuts evenly over the apples.
  7. Add any additional toppings, such as shredded coconut, granola, or a light sprinkle of cinnamon.
  8. Serve immediately after assembling for the freshest, crispest texture.

Notes

  • Granny Smith apples provide a tart contrast to the caramel, while Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji apples offer a sweeter flavor.
  • A light coating of lemon juice can help slow browning without significantly changing the flavor.
  • For Peanut Butter Caramel Apple Nachos, drizzle warmed peanut butter over the apples and garnish with chopped peanuts or chocolate chips.
  • For a chocolate variation, add a drizzle of melted milk, dark, or white chocolate.
  • For extra crunch, add granola and chopped nuts immediately before serving.
  • For Cinnamon Caramel Apple Nachos, lightly sprinkle the apple slices with cinnamon before adding the caramel.
  • For a nut-free variation, omit nuts and peanut butter and use suitable chocolate chips, nut-free granola, shredded coconut, or crushed pretzels.
  • For make-ahead preparation, keep the apples and toppings separate and assemble shortly before serving.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 days, although the apples will gradually soften and brown.
  • Apple nachos are best served fresh and do not need reheating.
