Air Fryer Parmesan Crusted Chicken delivers a crispy, golden-brown exterior with a juicy, tender interior—all without the need for deep frying. Coated in a flavorful blend of Parmesan cheese, Panko breadcrumbs, and seasonings, this dish is perfect for a quick and satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  1. 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
    1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
    ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
    1 tablespoon garlic powder
    ½ teaspoon dried oregano
    ½ teaspoon paprika
    ½ teaspoon black pepper
    ¼ teaspoon salt
    1 egg
    1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Slice each chicken breast horizontally to create two thinner cutlets. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  2. In one shallow bowl, whisk the egg. In another shallow bowl, combine Panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried oregano, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Dip each chicken cutlet into the egg, allowing excess to drip off. Then, coat thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and preheat for 5 minutes.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil. Place the breaded chicken cutlets in a single layer in the basket. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the crust is golden brown.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free Panko breadcrumbs and ensure all other ingredients are gluten-free.
  • Add red pepper flakes to the breadcrumb mixture for a spicy kick.
  • For a herbaceous twist, incorporate fresh herbs like basil or thyme into the breadcrumb mixture.
  • Sprinkle additional grated Parmesan cheese over the chicken during the last 2 minutes of cooking for a cheesy crust.
