Crispy Air Fryer Crab Rangoon feature golden wonton wrappers filled with a creamy mixture of crab, cream cheese, green onions, garlic, and savory seasonings. They make an easy appetizer served warm with sweet chili or sweet-and-sour sauce.

Ingredients

  • Wonton wrappers
  • Cream cheese, softened
  • Crab meat or imitation crab, finely chopped
  • Green onions, finely sliced
  • Garlic, minced
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Soy sauce
  • Garlic powder
  • Black pepper
  • Cooking spray or a light coating of neutral oil
  • Sweet chili sauce, for serving
  • Sweet-and-sour sauce, for serving
  • Sliced green onions, optional

Instructions

  1. Place the softened cream cheese in a medium mixing bowl and stir until smooth.
  2. Add the finely chopped crab, green onions, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  3. Stir until the crab and seasonings are evenly distributed throughout the cream cheese.
  4. Place a wonton wrapper on a clean work surface and spoon a small amount of filling into the center.
  5. Lightly moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper with water.
  6. Bring the corners toward the center and firmly press the edges together to seal the wonton, making sure there are no large openings.
  7. Repeat with the remaining wonton wrappers and filling.
  8. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) if recommended for your model.
  9. Lightly coat the outside of each Crab Rangoon with cooking spray or brush with a small amount of neutral oil.
  10. Arrange the Crab Rangoon in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each one and working in batches as necessary.
  11. Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 6–9 minutes, checking frequently toward the end of cooking.
  12. Remove the Crab Rangoon when the wrappers are crisp and golden and the filling is thoroughly heated.
  13. Let them cool for a couple of minutes before serving because the cream cheese filling will be hot.
  14. Serve warm with sweet chili sauce, sweet-and-sour sauce, and optional sliced green onions.

Notes

  • Avoid overfilling the wonton wrappers so the edges can be sealed securely.
  • Finely chop the crab or imitation crab so the filling is easy to portion and the wontons close neatly.
  • Lightly moisten the wrapper edges with water and firmly press the seams together to reduce the chance of opening during cooking.
  • Leave space between the wontons in the air fryer basket to promote even browning and crispness.
  • Add a small amount of sriracha or chili sauce to the filling for a spicy variation.
  • Finely chopped fully cooked shrimp can replace the crab.
  • For cream cheese wontons, omit the crab and use cream cheese, green onions, garlic, and seasonings as the filling.
  • Store cooked leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3–4 days.
  • Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at approximately 325–350°F (163–175°C) until thoroughly hot and crisp.
  • The filling can be prepared ahead and refrigerated, but assemble the wontons closer to cooking time to prevent the wrappers from becoming soggy.
