These Air Fryer Asparagus Puff Pastry Bundles feature flaky, buttery pastry wrapped around tender asparagus with a creamy, savory cheese filling. They’re an elegant yet easy appetizer or brunch dish made perfectly crisp in the air fryer.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Trim the woody ends from the asparagus and pat the spears dry.
  3. In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  4. Unfold the puff pastry and cut it into 4 equal squares.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each pastry square.
  6. Place 3 to 4 asparagus spears on top of the filling.
  7. Fold two opposite corners of each pastry square over the asparagus and press gently to seal.
  8. Whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash, then brush it over each bundle.
  9. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning if desired.
  10. Arrange the bundles in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  11. Air fry for 12–15 minutes, until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  12. Let cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Fresh asparagus provides the best texture, but thawed and well-dried frozen asparagus can be used.
  • Thaw the puff pastry completely before unfolding to prevent cracking.
  • Substitute goat cheese or ricotta for the cream cheese for a different flavor.
  • Add cooked bacon, prosciutto, smoked salmon, or Gruyère cheese for a heartier variation.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a 325°F (160°C) air fryer for 3–5 minutes to restore the flaky texture.
