This 7 Layer Pizza Dip combines seasoned cream cheese, tangy pizza sauce, melted mozzarella and Parmesan, pepperoni, and colorful vegetables in a warm, scoopable appetizer. Serve it hot with toasted bread, crackers, breadsticks, or tortilla chips.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 ounces pepperoni slices
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup black olives, sliced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, optional
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil or parsley, optional
  • Toasted bread, crackers, breadsticks, or tortilla chips, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a small baking dish or oven-safe skillet.
  2. Spread the softened cream cheese evenly across the bottom of the prepared dish. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and garlic powder.
  3. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the seasoned cream cheese.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the pizza sauce.
  5. Add the grated Parmesan in an even layer over the mozzarella.
  6. Arrange the pepperoni slices over the cheese.
  7. Scatter the chopped green bell pepper and red onion evenly over the pepperoni.
  8. Finish with the sliced black olives. Sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes if desired.
  9. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the dip is hot throughout and the cheese is completely melted and bubbling around the edges.
  10. Let the dip rest for about 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired and serve warm with toasted bread, crackers, breadsticks, or tortilla chips.

Notes

  • For a meat lovers’ version, add fully cooked Italian sausage, bacon, or diced ham along with the pepperoni.
  • For a meatless version, omit the pepperoni and add mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, spinach, or additional olives.
  • Cook and drain moisture-rich vegetables such as mushrooms and spinach before adding them to prevent a watery dip.
  • For extra heat, add sliced jalapenos, additional crushed red pepper flakes, spicy pepperoni, or hot sauce.
  • Mozzarella can be combined with provolone, cheddar, or Monterey Jack for additional flavor.
  • The dip can be assembled ahead, covered, and refrigerated until ready to bake. Add a little extra baking time if cooking directly from the refrigerator.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days.
  • Reheat larger portions at 350°F (175°C) until hot throughout, or microwave individual servings in short intervals.
