5 Minute Whipped Honey Butter is a light, creamy spread made with softened butter, sweet honey, and a touch of sea salt. Ready in minutes with no cooking, it is perfect for biscuits, cornbread, toast, pancakes, waffles, muffins, and warm rolls.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon, optional

Instructions

  1. Allow the butter to soften to room temperature until it gives easily when pressed but is not melted or greasy.
  2. Place the softened butter in a medium mixing bowl. Beat with a hand mixer on medium-high speed for 1–2 minutes, until pale, smooth, and fluffy.
  3. Add the honey and continue beating until completely incorporated, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  4. Add the fine sea salt. If using salted butter instead, reduce or omit the additional salt and adjust to taste.
  5. Add the optional vanilla extract and cinnamon if desired, keeping the flavors subtle so the honey and butter remain prominent.
  6. Whip the mixture for another 1–2 minutes until pale, smooth, and airy. Scrape down the bowl and whip briefly once more for an especially fluffy texture.
  7. Transfer the whipped honey butter to a small serving bowl or ramekin. Create swirls with a spoon and drizzle with a little additional honey if desired.
  8. Serve at room temperature with warm biscuits, dinner rolls, cornbread, toast, English muffins, pancakes, waffles, muffins, or other breads.

Notes

  • Properly softened room-temperature butter produces the lightest, fluffiest texture. Avoid using butter that is cold, melted, or greasy.
  • Salted butter can replace unsalted butter. Omit the added salt initially and adjust after tasting.
  • For cinnamon honey butter, use about 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
  • For vanilla honey butter, add the optional vanilla extract for a soft bakery-style flavor.
  • Finely grated orange or lemon zest can be added for a fresh citrus variation.
  • For maple honey butter, replace part of the honey with pure maple syrup, adding it gradually to preserve the fluffy consistency.
  • Store whipped honey butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator and use within about 1–2 weeks.
  • Let refrigerated honey butter soften at room temperature before serving and stir briefly to restore its creamy texture.
  • For longer storage, freeze in an airtight freezer-safe container and thaw in the refrigerator before softening and whipping again if needed.
  • Avoid reheating or melting the butter because this will destroy its whipped, airy texture.
