This 30 minute honey garlic chicken features tender chicken coated in a rich, glossy sauce with the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors.

Ingredients

  • Chicken breasts or chicken thighs
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic cloves (minced)
  • Honey
  • Soy sauce
  • Ketchup
  • Brown sugar
  • Rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • Cornstarch
  • Water
  • Olive oil or vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat and cook the chicken for 5–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, and vinegar.
  5. Pour the sauce into the pan and bring to a simmer.
  6. Mix cornstarch with water to form a slurry, then add to the sauce and stir until thickened.
  7. Return the chicken to the pan and coat well with the sauce. Simmer for a few minutes.
  8. Serve warm with your choice of sides.
