Ingredients

  • 2 black tea bags (or 2 teaspoons loose-leaf black tea)
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (or 1 cinnamon stick)
  • 12 tablespoons sweetener (honey, sugar, or maple syrup)

Instructions

  • Boil water and steep the black tea for about 5 minutes. Remove tea bags or strain loose tea.
  • Heat the milk: In a small saucepan over low heat, warm the milk without boiling.
  • Add flavor: Stir in vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sweetener until well combined.
  • Combine: Pour the tea into the milk mixture and stir well.
  • Serve: Enjoy hot, or let it cool and serve over ice for an iced version.

Notes

  • For a chai-style twist, add cloves, ginger, and cardamom.
  • Use decaffeinated black tea or rooibos for a caffeine-free version.
  • To make it dairy-free, substitute with oat, almond, or coconut milk.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat as needed.
