Turkey Bolognese Greek-Style is a Mediterranean-inspired version of the classic Italian sauce. Made with lean ground turkey, tomatoes, oregano, cinnamon, and finished with feta and olives, this hearty yet healthy meal brings bright, savory Greek flavors to your table.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small carrot, finely diced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes or tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped Kalamata olives
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese (for serving)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and carrot, cooking for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  2. Stir in garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Add ground turkey and cook for 5–6 minutes, breaking it apart, until browned and cooked through.
  4. Mix in oregano, cinnamon, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Deglaze the pan with white wine (if using) and simmer for 1–2 minutes until the liquid reduces.
  6. Add crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, stirring to combine. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
  7. Stir in chopped Kalamata olives and adjust seasoning to taste.
  8. Serve over pasta, zucchini noodles, or rice. Top with crumbled feta and fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For a creamy version, stir in Greek yogurt or cream before serving.
  • To thicken the sauce, simmer uncovered for a few extra minutes.
  • Make it dairy-free by skipping the feta or using a plant-based alternative.
  • This sauce freezes well for up to 3 months.
