Texas Chocolate Pecan Pie is a decadent Southern dessert combining a gooey pecan filling with melted chocolate in a flaky crust. It’s rich, nutty, and perfect for holidays, potlucks, or any special occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought, unbaked)
  • 3/4 cup semisweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves or chopped pecans
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fit pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim or crimp edges as desired.
  3. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the bottom of the crust.
  4. Layer pecans on top of the chocolate.
  5. In a bowl, whisk eggs, corn syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  6. Pour the mixture gently over the pecans and chocolate, letting it settle evenly.
  7. Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the center is set but slightly wobbly.
  8. Remove from oven and cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Toasting pecans before using adds extra depth of flavor.
  • Substitute bourbon for vanilla for a richer twist.
  • Use dark or milk chocolate based on personal preference.
  • No need to blind-bake the crust.
  • Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for a complete dessert.
