Sweet Potato Fries are a crispy, flavorful, and healthier alternative to traditional fries. Baked or fried, they feature a naturally sweet taste and are perfect as a side dish, appetizer, or snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch or arrowroot powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: pinch of cinnamon or cayenne (for variation)

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel (optional) the sweet potatoes. Cut into evenly sized sticks, about ¼ inch thick.
  2. For extra crispiness, soak the fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes. Drain and pat completely dry.
  3. Toss the sweet potato sticks in cornstarch or arrowroot powder to lightly coat.
  4. Add olive oil and your chosen seasonings. Toss until evenly coated.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Spread fries in a single layer on the sheet without overlapping.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy on the edges.
  8. Sprinkle with salt after baking and serve hot with your favorite dip.

Notes

  • Soaking the fries helps remove starch and improves crispiness but is optional.
  • Ensure fries are spaced out on the baking sheet for even cooking.
  • Cornstarch or arrowroot powder adds a crispy texture to baked fries.
  • Adjust seasoning to your preference—go savory or sweet.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking and promote even browning.
