Ingredients

For the Beef Marinade:

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp cornstarch

1 tbsp vegetable oil

For the Sauce:

3 tbsp soy sauce

2 tbsp oyster sauce

2 tbsp hoisin sauce

1 tbsp sugar

1 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tsp sesame oil

1 garlic clove, minced

1-inch ginger, minced

For the Noodles:

8 oz (225g) egg noodles or rice noodles

1 bell pepper, sliced

1 cup broccoli florets

2 green onions, chopped

Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  • Marinate the Beef: Combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and vegetable oil in a bowl. Mix well and marinate for 15-30 minutes.

  • Prepare the Sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and ginger. Set aside.

  • Cook the Noodles: Cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and toss with a little oil to prevent sticking.

  • Stir-Fry the Beef: Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.

  • Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same skillet, stir-fry bell pepper and broccoli for 3-4 minutes until tender yet crisp. Return the beef to the pan and add the sauce. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to thicken the sauce.

  • Combine and Serve: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss everything together. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Vegetarian Option: Swap the beef for tofu or tempeh for a vegetarian version.

  • Add More Veggies: Add snap peas, mushrooms, or carrots to customize the dish to your taste.

  • Make It Spicy: Add chili oil, sriracha, or fresh chilies for a spicy kick.

  • Rice Noodles Option: Use rice noodles for a gluten-free alternative
