Soft & Fluffy Classic Waffles are golden and crisp on the outside with a light, airy interior. Made with simple pantry ingredients, these homemade waffles are perfect for breakfast or brunch and pair beautifully with syrup, fruit, or whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional toppings: maple syrup, fresh berries, whipped cream, powdered sugar, sliced bananas

Instructions

  1. Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and mix in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. A few lumps are fine.
  5. Lightly grease the waffle iron if needed.
  6. Pour batter onto the hot waffle iron, using the amount recommended for your waffle maker.
  7. Close the lid and cook until waffles are golden brown and crisp.
  8. Carefully remove the waffles and repeat with the remaining batter.
  9. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.

  • Avoid overmixing the batter to keep waffles light and fluffy.
  • Keep cooked waffles warm in a 200°F (95°C) oven while preparing the rest.
