S’mores French Toast is a decadent breakfast twist on the classic campfire treat, featuring gooey marshmallow, melty chocolate, and graham cracker crumbs between golden, pan-fried slices of bread.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices thick bread (brioche or challah recommended)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk or cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate bar
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows or 1/4 cup marshmallow fluff
  • 1/3 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 2 tbsp butter (for frying)
  • Powdered sugar or chocolate drizzle, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk or cream, vanilla extract, and cinnamon (if using).
  2. Spread marshmallow fluff on one slice of bread and top with chocolate chips or chocolate bar pieces.
  3. Place a second slice of bread on top to form a sandwich.
  4. Dip the sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides thoroughly.
  5. Heat butter in a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  6. Cook the sandwich for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the filling is melted.
  7. While still warm, press the sandwich edges into graham cracker crumbs.
  8. Optional: Top with powdered sugar, extra graham crumbs, or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
  9. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use thick bread to prevent sogginess and hold the filling.
  • Marshmallow fluff spreads more easily and evenly than mini marshmallows.
  • Let the sandwich cool slightly before slicing to avoid leaking filling.
  • For less sweetness, use dark chocolate and skip powdered sugar.
  • Great for brunch or as a dessert-style breakfast.
