Ingredients

  • 1 cup green cabbage, shredded
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ pound ground chicken
  • ⅓ cup carrot, grated
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, peeled and grated
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 8 gyoza wrappers
  • For Serving:
    • Green onions
    • ½ cup Kikkoman® Gyoza Dipping Sauce

Instructions

  • Prepare the cabbage: Stir together shredded cabbage and salt in a small bowl. Let it sit for 10 minutes to soften, then drain the liquid and squeeze out excess moisture with a paper towel.
  • Make the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cabbage with the ground meat, grated carrots, green onions, garlic, and ginger. Mix well to combine.
  • Cook the gyoza: Heat vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat for 2 minutes. Scoop heaping tablespoon-sized mounds of filling onto the skillet, leaving space for the gyoza wrappers.
  • Smash and cook: Place a gyoza wrapper on top of each mound of filling and gently smash it with a spatula to flatten. Cover and cook for 1-2 minutes. Flip the gyoza and cook uncovered for another minute to crisp up the bottom.
  • Serve and enjoy: Repeat the process with the remaining filling and serve the gyoza hot, topped with green onions and accompanied by Kikkoman Gyoza Dipping Sauce.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftover gyoza in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Reheating: Reheat in a skillet over medium heat to restore the crispy texture.
  • Variations: Customize your gyoza by using tofu or additional vegetables for a vegetarian option, or add chili flakes for a spicy kick.
