Sesame Grilled Salmon is a quick, healthy, and flavorful dish where tender salmon fillets are marinated in a savory sesame-soy blend, then grilled to perfection and topped with toasted sesame seeds and green onions. Perfect for weeknight meals or summer cookouts.

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets (skin-on or skinless)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lime juice
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Oil for greasing the grill

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, honey, and rice vinegar to make the marinade.
  2. Place salmon fillets in a shallow dish or resealable bag. Pour marinade over the salmon and refrigerate for 15–30 minutes.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  4. Remove salmon from marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Season lightly with salt and pepper if desired.
  5. Grill salmon skin-side down (if using skin-on) for 4–5 minutes. Flip and grill another 3–4 minutes until cooked through and flaky.
  6. Transfer to a plate. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
  7. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Make extra marinade separately if you’d like to drizzle sauce over the finished dish.
  • Use tamari or gluten-free soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
  • Grill pan or broiler are great alternatives if you don’t have an outdoor grill.
  • Leftover salmon is great served cold in salads or grain bowls.
