Russian Dressing is a creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet condiment with a mild kick of spice. Smooth and flavorful, it’s perfect for sandwiches, salads, burgers, and dipping sauces.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (120 g) mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup (60 g) ketchup or chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons finely minced onion
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise and ketchup or chili sauce.
  2. Stir until smooth and evenly blended.
  3. Add the prepared horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, minced onion, and sweet pickle relish.
  4. Sprinkle in the paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Add lemon juice if using for extra brightness.
  6. Whisk everything together until fully combined.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more horseradish for heat or relish for sweetness if desired.
  8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Substitute part of the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
  • Use dill relish instead of sweet relish for a less sweet profile.
  • Add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper for extra spice.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • Stir well before serving if slight separation occurs.
