Ingredients

  1. For the Red Velvet Waffles:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
    • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1/4 cup melted butter or vegetable oil
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 2 teaspoons red food coloring
    • 1/4 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  2. For the Fried Chicken:
    • 4 chicken thighs or breasts (boneless and skinless)
    • 1 ½ cups buttermilk
    • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon paprika
    • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • Vegetable oil for frying
  3. For the Cream Cheese Drizzle (optional):
    • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
    • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
    • 1 tablespoon milk
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

For the Fried Chicken:

    1. Marinate the chicken in a buttermilk and hot sauce mixture for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
    2. Prepare the flour mixture with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
    3. Coat the marinated chicken in the flour mixture, pressing gently to coat evenly.
    4. Fry the chicken in hot vegetable oil (350°F) for 6-8 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.

    1. Preheat the waffle iron and prepare the waffle batter by mixing flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    2. Combine wet ingredients (buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and red food coloring) and mix into the dry ingredients.
    3. Cook the waffles according to the waffle iron’s instructions until golden and crispy.

    1. Whisk together softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. To Serve:
    1. Place a red velvet waffle on each plate and top with a piece of fried chicken.
    2. Drizzle with cream cheese drizzle, maple syrup, or dust with powdered sugar before serving.
