Ravioli Lasagna Casserole is a hearty, cheesy, and easy twist on traditional lasagna. Using store-bought ravioli instead of layered noodles makes it faster to prepare without sacrificing rich lasagna flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 (25 oz) package frozen or refrigerated cheese ravioli
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups marinara or spaghetti sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese (optional)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef or sausage and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Spread a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of the baking dish.
  7. Add a single layer of ravioli over the sauce.
  8. Spoon more sauce over the ravioli and sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  9. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with sauce and a generous layer of cheese on top.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Garnish with chopped basil or parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Use frozen ravioli directly; no need to thaw.
  • For extra creaminess, add a layer of ricotta between ravioli layers.
  • Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving to avoid excess liquid.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze before baking for up to 2 months.
