Pull Apart Pizza Bread is a fun, shareable appetizer made with a crusty loaf stuffed with pizza sauce, gooey mozzarella, and classic toppings, then baked until golden, bubbly, and perfect for tearing apart piece by piece.

Ingredients

  • 1 large round loaf sourdough or Italian bread
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
  • 1/2 cup cooked sausage, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup diced bell peppers
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
  2. Using a sharp knife, cut the bread in a crosshatch pattern, slicing almost to the bottom without cutting all the way through.
  3. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, and Italian seasoning. Brush evenly into the cuts of the bread.
  4. Spoon pizza sauce into the cracks, distributing evenly.
  5. Stuff mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, olives, and bell peppers evenly into the cuts.
  6. Wrap the loaf loosely in foil and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, then unwrap and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly and edges are golden.
  8. Remove from oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Avoid adding too much sauce to prevent soggy bread.
  • Freshly shredded cheese melts more smoothly than pre-shredded.
  • Assemble a few hours ahead and refrigerate before baking.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat wrapped in foil at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through.
