Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk

For the Pink Buttercream Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pink food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  3. Cream Butter & Sugar:

    • In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Add Eggs & Vanilla:

    • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.

  5. Combine Wet & Dry Ingredients:

    • Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with milk, mixing until just combined.

  6. Bake the Cake:

    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
    • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
    • Let the cake cool completely before slicing into squares.

For the Frosting:

  1. Beat the Butter:

    • In a bowl, beat butter until creamy.

  2. Add Sugar & Liquid Ingredients:

    • Gradually mix in powdered sugar, followed by heavy cream and vanilla extract.

  3. Color & Decorate:

    • Add pink food coloring and mix until the desired shade is reached.
    • Spread or pipe over cooled cake squares.
