Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies are classic, chewy cookies that combine the hearty texture of oats with sweet, melty chocolate chips. These cookies are a comforting treat perfect for snacking, lunchboxes, or dessert.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup rolled oats
  2. 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  3. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  4. 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  5. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  6. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  7. 1/2 cup brown sugar
  8. 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  9. 1 large egg
  10. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  11. 3/4 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  1. In a bowl, whisk together oats, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. In a separate large bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden but centers remain soft.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  1. Add chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.
  2. Substitute chocolate chips with white chocolate or butterscotch chips.
  3. Mix in dried fruit like raisins or cranberries.
  4. Use coconut oil instead of butter for a dairy-free version.
  5. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top before baking for a sweet-salty contrast.
