Nutella Pop Tarts are buttery, flaky pastries filled with rich chocolate hazelnut spread and topped with a sweet glaze. These homemade treats are simple to make, fun to decorate, and taste far better than store-bought versions — perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (2 sheets) refrigerated or homemade pie crust
  • ½ cup Nutella (or any chocolate hazelnut spread)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for brushing)

For the glaze:

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: chocolate drizzle or sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out pie crusts on a lightly floured surface and cut each sheet into 3×4-inch rectangles (about 8 per sheet).
  3. Place half the rectangles on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Spread 1 tablespoon of Nutella in the center of each rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Brush edges with beaten egg and top with remaining pastry rectangles.
  6. Press and seal edges with a fork, then poke small holes on top to vent.
  7. Brush tops with egg and milk mixture.
  8. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely before glazing.
  9. For the glaze: whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Spread over cooled pop tarts and top with sprinkles or chocolate drizzle if desired.

Notes

  • Seal edges tightly to prevent filling leaks during baking.
  • Don’t overfill — a small spoonful of Nutella goes a long way.
  • Allow pop tarts to cool before glazing to avoid melting the icing.
  • For a lighter texture, try puff pastry instead of pie crust.
  • Store at room temperature or freeze for easy reheating later.
