Mango Habanero Salsa is a vibrant and fiery salsa that blends the sweetness of ripe mangoes with the heat of habanero peppers, offering a perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and tangy flavors. It’s ideal as a topping or dip for various dishes.

Ingredients

  1. 1 large ripe mango, peeled and diced
12 habanero peppers, seeds removed and finely chopped (adjust to taste)
1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
    1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
    1 tablespoon lime juice
1 tablespoon honey (optional, for extra sweetness)
    Salt to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Mango: Peel the mango, remove the pit, and dice it into small, bite-sized pieces.

  1. Chop the Habanero Peppers: Carefully chop the habanero peppers, removing the seeds to control the spice level. For an extra kick, leave some seeds in.
  2. Combine the Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the diced mango, chopped habanero peppers, red onion, and cilantro.
  3. Add Lime and Sweetener: Add lime juice and honey (if using) to the mixture. Stir to combine.
  4. Season and Adjust: Taste and add salt to your preference. If you want it spicier, add more habanero peppers; for more sweetness, add extra honey.
  5. Chill: Let the salsa sit in the fridge for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Serve: Serve the salsa chilled with tortilla chips, tacos, grilled meats, or rice bowls.

Notes

  • For a tropical twist, try adding pineapple or papaya to the salsa.
  • If you prefer a creamier texture, add diced avocado to the mix.
  • Adjust the sweetness by reducing or omitting the honey based on personal preference.
  • This salsa is naturally gluten-free; serve with gluten-free chips or tortillas if needed.
