Lemon Garlic Chicken is a quick, zesty, and flavorful dish made with juicy chicken breasts or thighs infused with fresh lemon, garlic, and simple seasonings. Perfect for weeknights or entertaining, it delivers bold flavor with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth or water (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken on both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the chicken and cook for 5–6 minutes per side, or until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, and a splash of chicken broth or water to deglaze the pan if needed.
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the top. Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley and a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to avoid overcooking; chicken should reach 165°F internally.
  • Fresh lemon juice offers the best flavor, but bottled can be used if needed.
  • To make the sauce creamier, stir in a splash of cream or a tablespoon of butter at the end.
  • Pairs well with rice, roasted vegetables, or a crisp salad.
  • This dish freezes well—store for up to 2 months.
