Lemon Garlic Chicken is a zesty, savory one-pan dish featuring juicy chicken in a fresh lemon-butter garlic sauce. Quick to make and full of flavor, it’s ideal for weeknight dinners or entertaining.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken on both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chicken and cook for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add more oil or a bit of butter if needed. Sauté the garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add lemon juice, lemon zest, and chicken broth. Stir and let the sauce simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  6. Stir in butter until melted and the sauce is silky and combined.
  7. Return chicken to the skillet and spoon sauce over the top. Simmer for another 2–3 minutes to let the flavors combine.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Add a splash of cream for a creamy variation.
  • Include fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for extra aroma.
  • Use red pepper flakes or chili for a spicy twist.
  • Double the sauce if serving with pasta or rice.
