Lemon Garlic Butter Chicken is a bright and savory dish with juicy chicken breasts in a buttery garlic sauce enhanced by fresh lemon juice. Ready in under 30 minutes, it’s perfect for weeknights or entertaining.

Ingredients

  1. 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  2. Salt and pepper, to taste
  3. 1 tbsp olive oil
  4. 3 tbsp butter
  5. 4 cloves garlic, minced
  6. 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  7. 1 tsp lemon zest (optional)
  8. 1/2 cup chicken broth
  9. Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

Season chicken: Sprinkle chicken breasts with salt and pepper.

  1. Sear chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 4–5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  2. Make sauce: Lower heat to medium. Add butter to the skillet; once melted, stir in garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  3. Deglaze: Pour in chicken broth, lemon juice, and optional zest. Simmer 2–3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  4. Finish: Return chicken to the pan and spoon sauce over the top. Simmer another 2–3 minutes.
  5. Serve: Garnish with parsley and serve immediately with your choice of sides.

Notes

  1. For extra richness, add 2–3 tbsp heavy cream to the sauce at the end.
  2. Chicken thighs or tenderloins can be substituted for breasts.
  3. Add vegetables like asparagus, spinach, or green beans for a complete one-pan meal.
  4. Double the sauce ingredients if you prefer more to pour over sides.
