Jerk Fries are a Caribbean-inspired twist on French fries, tossed in bold jerk seasoning and served with zesty toppings or dipping sauces. These fries offer a perfect balance of crispy texture and smoky heat, making them a standout side or snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 large Russet potatoes or 1 bag frozen French fries
  • Vegetable oil, for frying or baking
  • Salt, to taste
  • 12 tablespoons jerk seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter (for tossing)
  • Optional toppings: chopped scallions, shredded cheese, grilled jerk chicken, lime wedges
  • Optional dipping sauces: jerk mayo, garlic aioli, ranch, or sour cream

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel (optional) the potatoes, then cut into fries. Soak in cold water for 30 minutes, drain, and pat dry.
  2. Fry twice—first at 300°F (150°C) for 4–5 minutes, then at 375°F (190°C) for 2–3 minutes—or bake at 425°F (220°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden and crispy. If using frozen fries, bake or air fry per package instructions.
  3. While fries are hot, drizzle with olive oil or melted butter and toss with jerk seasoning until evenly coated.
  4. Top with optional ingredients like scallions, cheese, grilled jerk chicken, or a squeeze of lime juice.
  5. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Adjust jerk seasoning based on spice preference—start small and build up to desired heat.
  • Sweet potatoes make a delicious alternative to regular fries.
  • Use air fryer for a lighter, crispier version of the fries.
  • Pair with cooling dips like ranch or sour cream to balance the heat.
  • For loaded fries, add protein like jerk chicken and cheese for a main course-style dish.
